When George Harrison died on my birthday in 2001, I decided to create a version of My Sweet Lord in honor of my favorite Beatle.

The remix has an extended spoken word intro in which George tries to convince John and Yoko that he has a few songs he’d like to do. John and Paul had a stranglehold on the Beatles songwriting and it’s quiet revealing to hear George’s plea.

This remix was released on limited edition white label vinyl in 2002 and has not been available since.

The mighty Dirtybird crew are the featured label on the Noice radio show this month. I thought I’d dig deeper into the dirty funk crate for the tracks on my mix.

For those who have been asleep under a rock, the Dirtybird DJs are also some of the funkiest producers on the planet – JPhlip, Justin Martin and his brother, Claude van Stroke and Worthy.

The label is doing for San Francisco what Hardkiss Music did during th ’90s – putting a freak flag on the map of international dance music and keeping a playful sense of humor about it.

Let the funk move yer rump!!

Pierce is incredible!! Not only does he produce an outstanding remix of “Cocoboom,” he also puts together this cool video featuring still photos by Daniel Hicks.

I’ve brought together some of my favorite producers for my new record “Cocoboom” which elevates the dancefloor sounds that have been tickling me lately.

JPhlip is one of the best DJs/producers that I have encountered in a while. She’s part of the talented Dirtybird stable and recently relocated from San Francisco to Berlin which she’ll undoubtedly rock harder than ever.

Cologne’s Pierce came to my attention with his startling remix of Amourette.  In remixing Cocoboom, he has produced a 10+ minute memorable voyage which you can watch here.

Laron aka Swan puts a Chicago/San Fran twist in the mix.  Laron and I created many percussive/techy house tracks in the ’90s that were released on labels like Rachdingue and Fiji.

Drunken Monkey provides a fierce bassline that will hold down any dancefloor.  Daniel and I are long time collaborators with releases on record labels like Hooj Tunes and Sunburn.

Jan van Lier rounds off the package with a pumped up version.

Holy smoke. What a banner month this is gonna be!!

The opening song from my Hawke album +++ gets the remix treatment from some of the best underground house music producers in the Americas.

Anthony Mansfield is having a banner year with sought after releases on his own Hector Works label and remixes for The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Sleazy McQueen and Hot Toddy. Here Mansfield musically stays close to the original “Monday Comes And Goes” and adds a bit of effective dancefloor pump and magic.

Brazil’s Jota Wagner, founder of Lunatic Jazz set out to create his own club remixes of the track and I was so enamored with this dubby, percussive house music treatment that I added some of my own elements to create a collaborative remix with serious late night appeal.

The Sexicanz, led by the enigmatic Dmitri from San Francisco, provide a raw analog Basic Channel inspired reworking. Dmitri has a history of memorable singles on Robsoul, Deepfunk, and his own C.O.A. label.

In an effort to extend the collaborative spirit of +++, we worked with remixin.com to hold a remix contest for “Monday Comes And Goes.” Out of an impressive number of quality entries Los Angeles via Australia DJ/Producer and Bombeatz artist Craig Williams hit the mark with his Last Minute Jump Around Remix.
